Our work moves between retail, hospitality, workplaces, developer spaces and experiential environments. The starting point remains the same: understand the brief, the place and the people who will use it.

COMPANY MILESTONES / 2003–2025

From a Kuala Lumpur studio
to an international practice.

More than two decades of growth, collaboration and design exploration — with an increasing focus on technology and responsible material choices.

The Beginning

2003

DMZ Studio established in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, marking the beginning of our journey in the design industry.

2004

Evolved into a full-service design firm, specializing in creating image counters for international cosmetics brands.

2005

Relocated DMZ Studio to Subang Jaya, Malaysia, enhancing accessibility and operations.

2006

Incorporated DMZ Productions Sdn. Bhd. in Malaysia to support custom-made furniture production and ID fit-out.

2007

Expanded design services to Singapore, Taiwan and Vietnam.
Launched Glam Kitchen & Living, focusing on high-end kitchen system and residential design.

2008

Ranked among the Top 10 design firms in the Asia Pacific for the Entertainment Space category.
Received the MSID Merit Award for Retail / Commercial Interior Design.
Received Honourable Mention in The Ring iC@ward International Interior Design Awards, Club category.

Going Global

2009

Established DMZ Academy of Creative Art, offering specialized training in digital art and interior design.
Incorporated DMZ International Design Group (HK) Limited in Hong Kong as a regional office.
Finalist in the FX International Interior Design Awards, Club and Entertainment category.
Awarded Designer of the Year by Designer Concept.

2010

Served as a panel judge for the Malaysian International Furniture and Furnishing Fair (MF3).

Winning Global

2011

DMZ Home & Glam Casa, a showroom dedicated to luxury living.
Awarded the APAC Property Award for Leisure Interior Design.

2012

Expanded design service to Europe.
Received The Ring iC@ward International Interior Design Awards.

2013

Founded DMZ Consultancy Sdn Bhd in Malaysia.
Expanded operations in Singapore.
Completed the interior design consultancy service for Vivatel a 4-star Design Hotel in Kuala Lumpur.
Won the Best Leisure Interior Finland award at the European Property Awards.

2014

Established DMZ Associates Sdn Bhd in Malaysia.
Won the Best Leisure Interior Europe at the European Property Awards.
Relocated Kuala Lumpur headquarters to a larger property to accommodate growth.

2015

Completed the Shell Cyberjaya Office Leisure Facilities project.
Awarded Best Hotel Interior Malaysia and Highly Commended Retail Interior at the APAC Property Awards.

2016

Established DMZ Forte Sdn Bhd in Malaysia, focused in Retail planning and research.
Received Highly Commended Leisure Interior Malaysia at the Asia Pacific Property Awards.

The Expansion

2017

Integrated 3D printing technology into interior design.
Completed the largest D&B campaign for Danone-Dumex Malaysia.
Participated in the Genting Theme Park project.
Delivered the largest Huone Meeting Venue in Singapore.

2018

Expanded design services to Denmark under DMZ International Design Group (HK) Ltd.
Designed furniture systems for Huone International.

2019

Completed the largest Huone Meeting Venue in Copenhagen.
Founded +CO, a co-working space in Malaysia, embracing the global trend of shared workspaces.
Received the Marketing Events Awards Silver Award for Best Event Venue.
Honored as the Most Outstanding Multidisciplinary Design Firm by LuxLife Leading Designers Awards.

2020

Awarded Best Leisure Interior Singapore by the Asia Pacific Property Awards.

Sustainable Roadmap

2021

Pioneered sustainable design with Nanyang Cafe at Sunway Pyramid.

2022

Completed the Fraser & Neave Headquarters in Shah Alam.
Participated as a Grand Jury member for the Frame Award.

2023

Expanded service to Australia.
Adopted parametric design for the Cloud feature at Mil Toast Cafe, TRX.
Completed the design handbook for Silkygirl cosmetics for Asia market.

2024

Engaged in large-scale projects, including supermarket, departmental stores and shopping mall.
Completed the design handbook for Simmons Mattress Gallery for Southeast Asia market.

2025

Incorporated upcycling and recycled materials in the Petronas Energy Gallery project.
Awarded Japan IDPA Design Award with Luxury Residence - AIRA Damansara Height Show Unit.
Awarded LUX Life UK, Most Innovative Commercial Interior Design Studio 2025 - APAC
